The Record Collector article does not mention this item, so either they did not know of its existance or it had not been made at that time.  Then again, maybe it's just a variation on an old version because as a couple of people have noted it's a lot like the second "American Counterfeit" (a.k.a. the "Superior American Counterfeit").

  • "I bought this fake Love Buzz a couple of months ago.  The disc is exactly like THE SUPERIOR AMERICAN COUNTERFEIT but the sleeve is made with a black & white copy machine and it has a sticker (it's whole sleeve width long) made with these new labeling machines and it says 'LEFT OVER' EDITION #225 OF #250."

  • "I do have a copy of Love Buzz/Big Chesse 7".  The run-out messages are the same as THE SUPERIOR AMERICAN COUNTERFEIT.  But on the back it says 'LEFT OVER' EDITION #088 OF 250.  Also of notice is that the record itself has all of the original artwork but it is drawn over with some sort of black magic marker and on it there is handwritten with a bluish pen on side A: 'Love Buzz' and on side B: 'Big Cheese Sub Pop Testpressing.' "

  • "Over the years I somehow came to believe that I got this single from Sub Pop themselves.  I was a member of the singles club and joined perhaps several singles after Love Buzz.  When I first joined I know I inquired of them asking for help in getting me a copy, and I swear they said I could buy the 'left over' version.  After reviewing your Love Buzz section apparently I'm wrong.  Indeed, there is no Kdisc stamp in the trail off area...but the correct '...trade your guitars' writing is there.

"As for your question about where I got the single, I am almost positive it came from SupPop.  Not 100%...but I remember back then when I got it that even though it wasn't one of the original 1000, a leftover addition wasn't too bad to have, especially since the record was the same.  Often times Sup Pop would send letters with the singles of the month containing info on special deals and items still in stock.  That was my goal...not the collecting, just having some good bands and new songs.  So if push came to shove, that would be my memory of the deal.

"The sleeve is indeed akin to a xerox copy...plain, almost budget paper...not the poster board kind.  It's difficult trying to determine if the numbering band across the back is genuinely stamped."
