Trick Or Treat

Live Nirvana Bootography Rating: A  97%

Live Nirvana Bootography Review:
This disc is pretty overated, theres some high end distortion and a sound stutter early in the show, Get "No Place Like Home" instead. The band plays with a lot of energy. This show was actually recorded by Geffen for a future live release, and some of the tracks have ended up on various singles.

This was the bands homecoming show of the Nevermind tour and the last US date before taking off to Europe. There's a little jam and Krist jokingly says "White boy funk sucks!".. hence the "White Boy Funk" jam that is listed im many bootleg guides.

The early "Rape Me" and "Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam" are nice... but the power and clarity of the show are the real highlights. "Trick or Treat" is the most popular way to find this recording, but it can be found on other discs. The artwork is above average... typical KTS style.
Spectral analysis suggests that this disc was sourced from a cassette dub of Into The Black - Disc 3 - Paramount Theatre

The disc scanned and reviewed here was from the 2nd pressing, The 1st pressing had the matrix : KTS 395 PHC 1506-A
: the original pressing is easy to spot by checking the back inlay :
- "SIAE" stamp
- track listing is light blue / black
- barcode is ORANGE
- Text at the bottom for CD Music Co.
- "KTS" logo is RED
- "Trick Or Treat" on the spine is in RED, ORANGE and RED
And of course the catalog is "CD Music Co."

The second pressing has the following differences to the back inlay :
- no stamp
- track listing is violet / black
- barcode is YELLOW
- no text, but "The Ultimate In Quality !" at the bottom of the "KTS" logo
- "KTS" logo is GREY

Each release used the original artwork (so no scanned images or blurred artwork). Other original pressings MAY exist (see also "The Eternal Legacy").
counterfeit KTS releases are confirmed for discs by a few different bands : they range from good to bad. Strangely they are usually far rarer than the original KTS pressings. Most come from Asia.
A Japanese Counterfeit seemingly pressed around 1995 had the matrix : KTS-395 MADE IN TAIWAN 951016-17 500329X IFPI L601
The Counterfeiters didn't put much effort into it, the picture disc CD used the image from the front insert of the original pressings, and the insert ommits the first 2 pages / last 2 pages with the "CD Music Co". / "KTS Records" catalog. This pressing was done using the artwork of the second pressing : because of the poor scans used, "Trick" and "Treat" on the spines in grey are almost impossible to read.
