Escalator To Hell

Nirvana Song

Song Author
Kurt Cobain

Writing Period

Recording Session(s)
June 11 & 30; July 26 and September 27, 1988 - Reciprocal Studios {prod by Jack Endino}

The real title of this one is unknown, but most people refer to it as "Montage Of Heck - part 2" or "Escalator To Hell" (it is NOT a cover of the Subhuman song with the same name). The title "Montage Of Heck - part 2" is a bit misleading because it has nothing to do with "Montage Of Heck."

The 'song' was recorded on a 4-track at about the same time as "Montage Of Heck." It features Cobain saying something like "She's SELLING the escalator to hell" -- apparently he said something else and then recorded it backwards so it sounds like that escalator from hell thing. After that there's some guitar noise.

There are two versions of this song avalible: a long version (about 2 min) and a shorter version (about 20 sec). The long version can be found on Outcesticide IV while the short version appears on Into The Black.
