The Green Manalishi (With The Two Pronged Crown)

Status
Song Jammed On

Song Author
Peter Green

Recording Session(s)
No Nirvana Studio Recording

Notes
This jam from the 1991.09.16 Beehive Records in-store appearance was previously thought to be a cover of KISS' "Love Gun." However, DN member Pat Sexton correctly pointed out that it was actually a cover written by Peter Green and recorded by his original version of Fleetwood Mac. Judas Priest's version is perhaps best known, having appeared on the 1979 live album Unleashed In The East and the 1979 studio album Hell Bent For Leather.

Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl jammed on this song while Kurt Cobain tuned his guitar. Krist sang the vocals.

Lyrics
As originally written by Peter Green

Now, when the day goes to sleep and the full moon looks
The night is so black that the darkness cooks
Don't you come creepin' around -- makin' me do things I don't want to

Can't believe that you need my love so bad
Come sneakin' around tryin' to drive me mad
Bustin' in on my dreams - making me see things I don't wanna see

(break)

'Cause you're the Green Manalishi with the two prong crown
All my tryin' is up -- all your bringin' is down
Just taking my love then slippin' away
Leavin' me here just tryin' to keep from following you
