Kurt Cobain is thought to have travelled to his aunt Mari Earl's house, September 10, 1985, (1) in order to record these guitar riffs as a reference for the Fecal Matter demo sessions. Some of the riffs were subsequently recorded over when Cobain came to dub copies of Illiteracy Will Prevail onto cassette. Several of the unknown compositions listed here correspond with songs on the Fecal Matter demo, but are labelled differently in that entry: Unknown #4 is the same composition as Unknown #1
on the Fecal Matter demo, Unknown #5 is the same composition as Unknown #2
on the Fecal Matter demo, and Unknown #7 is the same composition as Unknown #5
on the Fecal Matter demo.
