Nevermind The Bollocks!

Live Nirvana Bootography Rating: A  97%

Live Nirvana Bootography Review:
This show can be found on three commercially available discs. "Nevermind The Bollocks" is the only complete commercial version and spans across two discs. The release is on a Japanese label, which can make it difficult for traders outside of Japan to find. While "Nevermind The Bollocks" is the preferred commercial disc for this show, it isn't necessarily worth the extra expense when compared to "Flogging A Dead Angel" or "Legacy Of Noise." The discs come in a cardboard slip-case.

During the beginning of the show (the first couple of songs), there are several disturbances in the sound. It sounds as if the taper decides he is in a noisy section and should move to a better location. The sound volume fluctuates quite a bit during "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" and there is also some crackle. You can hear the taper say "You got my deck on?"

During "Drain You" the sound fades out quite a bit in some places. It sounds like the taper moves to a more secluded area and is running in and out of of entrances (you don't hear footsteps, but the sound comes and goes).

There are a couple of places where short static sounds can be heard. There is a little during "About A Girl", and a short second of static during Heart-Shaped Box. These noises are on all commercial releases of the show. The recording is still above average, and these slight defects shouldn't scare anyone away.

The performance is an example of an outstanding US "In Utero" show. The band is in good form and plays with energy. If the opportunity presents itself and you have the funds, pick this one up!
